Mark Trahan, PhD, LCSW
Welcome! I hope to be able to help you. I work primarily with couples and young adults. My academic background includes training at the University of Houston, Graduate College of Social Work, for my masters and doctorate degrees. I am currently a faculty member at Texas State University and maintain a small private practice one day a week. I have training in the most effective therapies for couples and individuals. Certified as a Gottman Method Couples Therapist and with training in Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, I provide research based effective help and solutions for problems such as conflict, infidelity, addiction, trust, parenting, and life transitions. In my work with individuals, I am highly effective at helping individuals and young adults with depression, anxiety, motivation, and difficulty with relationships and dating. If you would like to know my theoretical orientation, I utilize training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. In addition to my counseling practice, I am a skilled speaker and trainer, and I teach advanced counseling/practice courses. I am also a researcher, working on projects on fathering and virtual reality interventions for veterans. I often facilitate workshops and seminars on intimate partnership and speak to groups.
